Edmund London & Associates is experienced in the design of retirement communities that promote social interaction while maintaining privacy and independence. Recent projects include the 92 unit StoryPoint in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the 92 unit StoryPoint in Rockford, Michigan, and The Rivers Grosse Pointe in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan. These projects combine one and two bed room apartments designed specifically for the frail elderly with common dining, lounge, and activity areas. Other features include gift shops, ice cream parlors, health clubs, and barber/beauty shops.

assisted living facilities
ELA has designed assisted living facilities such as the StoryPoint in Midland, Michigan, and Village Manor Retirement in Hartland, Michigan, which provide an alternate living environment for elderly requiring
assistance with daily living activities, but not 24 hour nursing care. While living in a residential, non-institutional setting of studio, one and two bed room apartments, residents enjoy central activities and dining along with the necessary staff assistance to promote an active lifestyle.

Edmund London & Associates is one of the Midwest’s leading designers of skilled nursing facilities having completed over 35 projects in the past ten years. Notable facilities include the 232 bed Grand Traverse Pavilions, the 197 bed Jackson County Medical Care Facility, the 100 bed Eaton County Medical Care Facility, and the 136 bed Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility. Many of our long term care projects involve additions and alterations to existing facilities.​

Edmund London & Associates is very involved in the design of environments for people with dementia. We have learned that a sensitively designed facility, together with programmed activities and staffing patterns, can help ease the pain and confusion of dementia and aid the resident in retaining dignity and some sense of control.
Our projects for people with early stages of dementia in an assisted living setting include the StoryPoint of Avon Lake in Ohio and Windermere Park of Troy in Michigan. Projects for people with later stages of dementia in a nursing home setting include the 32 bed unit at The Rivers of Grosse Pointe and
two 20 bed units at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility. The 120 bed Towsley Village provides a continuum of care for residents suffering from early to late stages of dementia.

Edmund London & Associates has extensive experience in the design of health care facilities including ambulatory surgery, acute care hospital renovations, psychiatric hospitals, rehabilitation and wellness facilities, diagnostic imaging centers, and medical offices and clinics.

Ambulatory care facility projects include the Detroit Medical Center’s Lahser Campus, which contains an ambulatory surgery center and diagnostic imaging center as well as medical offices, the DMC Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, the Grand Traverse Pavilions Aquatic / Wellness Center, Barclay Medical Plaza, and Crown Pointe Endoscopy and Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Our inpatient hospital experience also includes psychiatric hospitals such as Henry Ford’s Kingswood Hospital and HealthSource Saginaw.
